J&K Police Sub-Inspector Injured In Attack By Armed Men On Jammu Outskirts

By State Correspondents News Desk | Updated: 15 December 2025 | Jammu Law & Order J&K Police
Police Don't Cross

A Jammu and Kashmir Police sub-inspector was injured after being attacked by a group of armed men at Gurrah Morh on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday evening, prompting a widespread manhunt in the area. The injured officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Nitin Khajuria of Bakshi Nagar police station, was later shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for treatment and is reported to be out of danger.

Attack Near Gurrah Morh Around 8:30 PM

According to police, the incident took place around 8:30 pm when SI Khajuria was travelling near Gurrah Morh, a busy junction on the city’s outskirts. A Thar vehicle with four occupants allegedly intercepted him on the road, following which an argument ensued and the men launched a sudden attack.

Officials said the assailants were carrying a sharp-edged weapon and also brandished a pistol while assaulting the officer, inflicting injuries before speeding away from the spot in their vehicle. Local residents informed the police control room, and a team rushed SI Khajuria to GMC Jammu where doctors provided first aid and carried out further medical examinations.

Two Accused Identified, Manhunt Launched

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Arms Act at the concerned police station and launched a multi-team search operation to trace the accused. Two of the four men have been identified as Rishab and Munna alias Munna D, while efforts are on to establish the identity of their two other accomplices.

Checkpoints have been strengthened on key routes leading in and out of Jammu, and special teams are scanning CCTV footage from Gurrah Morh and surrounding areas to track the path of the Thar and its occupants. Senior officers from Jammu district police have visited the crime scene and the hospital, assuring that those involved in the attack will be arrested soon.

Police Clarify Incident Is Criminal, Not Terror-Linked

While the use of a firearm in the incident initially raised concern about a possible terror angle, preliminary assessment by the police suggests the attack appears to be a criminal act rather than a militant strike. Officials have indicated that the background of the accused and any previous criminal cases against them are being thoroughly examined as part of the investigation.

Jammu Police have appealed to citizens to avoid spreading rumours on social media and to share any credible information about the suspects or the vehicle used in the attack through official helplines or the nearest police station. They have also reiterated that assaults on public servants on duty will be dealt with strictly and that additional patrolling has been ordered in the Gurrah Morh–Bantalab belt during late evening hours.

Officer Under Treatment, Situation Under Control

Hospital sources said SI Nitin Khajuria sustained injuries from the sharp-edged weapon but is stable and recovering under observation at GMC Jammu. Colleagues from Bakshi Nagar police station and senior officers have visited him in hospital and praised his service record, calling the attack an attempt to intimidate law-enforcement personnel.

For now, law-and-order officials maintain that the situation in Jammu remains under control, though security and night patrolling have been further tightened on the city’s outskirts, especially along key approach roads. The case is being closely monitored at the district level, with further arrests and recoveries expected as investigation progresses.
