‘Strong Alliance, Assembly Will Run Well’: NC Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq Ahead of Crucial Session

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Legislature Party meeting, chaired by party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, concluded in Srinagar on Sunday ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Congress lawmakers, and allied members converging to chalk out a unified legislative agenda.
Addressing media persons after the extensive deliberations, NC chief spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq stated that the meeting was held in keeping with parliamentary tradition ahead of every Assembly session, serving as a platform to streamline critical public concerns and formulate a cohesive strategy for the floor of the House.
“There is no doubt. It is a strong alliance. The Assembly will run well from tomorrow.”
Sadiq detailed that the strategy meeting saw the active presence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah alongside Congress leadership, including Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra, Congress legislators, CPI(M) MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, and several independent lawmakers backing the treasury benches.

“As per tradition, the legislative party meets before every session. In the same vein, Dr Farooq Abdullah held talks with the legislature party,” Sadiq said, adding that exhaustive discussions took place regarding the key challenges facing the Union Territory. “We had a good discussion. We discussed the issues of Jammu and Kashmir. It was an extensive deliberation.”
He explained that internal discussions were also conducted within the Congress legislative wing and subsequently in coordination with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The core emphasis remained on reflecting the public mandate faithfully during legislative debates.
“Opposition is ready. We will catch them. If they ask us on issues, Omar Abdullah’s government will answer them and will answer them well.”
Reaffirming the ruling coalition’s cohesion, Sadiq dismissed doubts concerning inter-party dynamics between the NC and Congress, reiterating that the alliance stands resolute and focused on delivering accountable governance.
The ten-day session of the J&K Legislative Assembly is slated to commence on Monday. Both the treasury benches and the Opposition are expected to engage in spirited debates across development, policy implementation, and administrative accountability.
