Mendhar/Jammu, Aug 26: The Indian Army on Wednesday detected and safely destroyed an unexploded mortar shell discovered near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The vintage explosive device was spotted by alert troops patrolling the forward sector near the Nangi Tikri area along the border fence.
Upon identifying the device, the area was immediately cordoned off, and the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to the location. The team successfully neutralized the shell through a controlled detonation, averting any potential danger.
Officials confirmed that the operation was executed smoothly, with no loss of life, injuries, or damage to property reported.
