Srinagar/Kulgam, Aug 26: Security forces dealt a major blow to the terror support network in South Kashmir on Wednesday by arresting five Overground Workers (OGWs) during a targeted operation in Kulgam district.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs regarding the movement of terror associates, a joint team of security forces launched a swift Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Bugam area of Kulgam. During the search, troops intercepted and apprehended five suspects.
Subsequent questioning of the detained individuals led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including:
- 4 Pistols
- 2 Hand Grenades
- Live rounds of assorted ammunition
Officials confirmed that the seized weaponry was intended to facilitate subversive activities in the region. Further investigation is underway to track down the network’s wider linkages and handlers.
The Kulgam bust follows a major crackdown just a day earlier, when security forces arrested eight terror associates in three separate anti-terror operations across the neighboring districts of Shopian and Pulwama.
