Srinagar, Aug 26: Eid Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, was observed with religious reverence, enthusiasm, and devotion across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
The main gathering took place at the Hazratbal shrine along the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad. Thousands of devotees from various districts assembled at the revered shrine to offer congregational prayers and supplications. Following the prayers, the custodian of the shrine formally displayed the holy relic (Moi-e-Muqaddas) to the gathered faithful.
Leaders Join Prayers for Peace
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah along with National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah joined thousands of devotees to offer afternoon (Zuhr) prayers at Hazratbal. The leaders prayed for lasting peace, communal harmony, and prosperity across Jammu and Kashmir.
Extensive Arrangements by Waqf Board
The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, responsible for the management of the shrine, made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth facilities for pilgrims, including dedicated transit corridors, medical camps, and sanitation drives.
To mark the auspicious occasion, Hazratbal along with several prominent mosques, shrines, and market areas across Srinagar and district headquarters were illuminated with vibrant lighting. Special Milad congregations, Seerat conferences, and sermons detailing the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad were organized at religious institutions across the Kashmir Valley.
