Rajouri / Poonch: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Tuesday stated that the BJP is committed to fighting steadfastly for public rights and exposing the governance failures of the National Conference-led administration.
Addressing the media following a public outreach programme across Poonch and Rajouri districts, Sharma highlighted growing public resentment against the current regime. During the extensive visit, a senior BJP delegation engaged with multiple civil society groups and local delegations, taking note of pressing issues related to development, basic amenities, healthcare, employment, and public welfare.
“The NC came to power making big promises to the people, but today the public is asking where is the promised development, where are the jobs, and where is the relief in their day-to-day problems? The growing dissatisfaction is a direct reflection of the government’s failure to deliver.”
Sharma described this mass outreach drive as the starting point of an aggressive statewide grassroots campaign aimed at bridging the gap between the National Conference’s poll rhetoric and ground reality. He asserted that the Omar Abdullah-led administration has failed to provide responsive, accountable, and transparent governance.
Key Takeaways from the Outreach
- Grassroots Campaign: BJP to take the public outreach drive across every district and constituency in J&K.
- Issues Raised: Severe public discontent over stalled developmental projects, rising unemployment, and lack of basic services.
- Direct Accountability: Party vows to act as a formidable opposition and take genuine grievances directly to the assembly floor.
Dismissing armchair politics, the LoP asserted that BJP leadership believes in remaining on the ground alongside the common citizen. “The BJP is not sitting in offices and making political statements. Our leaders and workers are reaching the people, hearing them directly, and standing with them in their hour of need. The people’s voice will become our strongest weapon against the NC’s misgovernance,” Sharma stated.
Reaffirming the party’s future roadmap, Sharma confirmed that similar outreach visits will soon be rolled out across other administrative divisions and districts of Jammu and Kashmir to hold the ruling dispensation thoroughly accountable.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve performance, accountability, and real development—not excuses and empty promises. The BJP will remain the strongest voice of the people and will not relent,” he concluded.
