In a vibrant display of celebration and camaraderie, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday organized the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative at the historic Clock Tower in Srinagar’s iconic Lal Chowk to mark the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gathering in substantial numbers beneath the recently revamped Ghanta Ghar in the heart of Srinagar, party workers, senior leaders, and supporters illuminated the square with earthen diyas and candles. The participants recited collective prayers seeking the Prime Minister’s prolonged life, sustained vigor, and continued guidance for the country.
Unbroken executive leadership spanning approximately 12.5 years as Chief Minister of Gujarat and 12.5 years as Prime Minister of India.
Nationwide citizen service and devotional observance initiated by the party cadre across all states and Union Territories.
The observance at Lal Chowk was integrated with the BJP’s comprehensive nationwide drive, conceptualized around selfless service, community welfare, and public outreach during the auspicious occasion.
“First of all, at Kashmir’s historic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk, on behalf of the BJP’s Kashmir unit, we would like to extend our heartfelt birthday greetings to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We pray for his long life and good health. The entire BJP unit in Kashmir and people at large are praying for this at this historic Clock Tower.”
Milestone of Uninterrupted Public Stewardship
Addressing media personnel and assembled cadre, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, highlighted that this birthday stands out as an unprecedented silver jubilee of uninterrupted executive governance.
“Today marks the celebration of twenty-five years spent in office, a tenure comprising roughly twelve and a half years as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and another twelve and a half years as the Prime Minister of India. This journey is unmatched in terms of dedication, reformative governance, and relentless service to the nation.”
Sharma described the Prime Minister’s political journey as “unprecedented and remarkable,” underscoring that PM Modi has spent every moment of his public existence safeguarding national interests and empowering the marginalized sections of society.
Resonance Across the Valley
The lighting of lamps at Lal Chowk—traditionally regarded as the political thermometer of the Kashmir valley—carries strong symbolic weight, reflecting the evolving socio-political landscape in downtown Srinagar. Enthusiastic workers stood beneath the brightly lit clock facade, holding placards, lighting lamps, and exchanging warm greetings.
Party representatives noted that the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ and the corresponding ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ activities will continue across diverse districts in the Union Territory, encompassing blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and social outreach initiatives over the coming days.
