In a simultaneous launch, Prime Minister Modi unveiled localized production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant, a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki. This development enables more than 80% of battery value creation within India, significantly reducing the nation’s import dependence on critical battery components.

Highlighting the success of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Modi emphasized the remarkable growth in automobile exports, which have more than doubled to nearly Rs 1.2 lakh crore annually since 2014. The TDS battery facility, established through Indo-Japanese collaboration, epitomizes India’s commitment to clean energy and advanced manufacturing technologies.
e-VITARA Technical Specs and Competitive Market Position
The e-VITARA offers two battery options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, delivering up to 500 km per charge. Equipped with advanced features like a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, Level-2 ADAS, and seven airbags, the vehicle is poised to launch in India on September 3, competing with prominent models like Mahindra BE6 and Hyundai Creta Electric.
