The revered Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of Dal Lake was illuminated in vibrant lights on Tuesday evening as thousands of devotees converged from across Jammu and Kashmir to mark the eve of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). The sanctum and adjoining lakeside lawns echoed with durood-o-azkar, naats, and heartfelt supplications during the night-long Shab Khwaani.
Carrying prayer mats and traditional offerings, families, elders, and youth arrived in steady streams through the night. Devotees described the annual gathering as an essential moment of spiritual renewal, remembering Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) life and enduring message of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.
Mosques and shrines across the Union Territory have finalized arrangements for major Wednesday congregations, featuring Quranic recitations, sermons by religious scholars, and special supplications.
Traffic Route Breakdown & Diversions
To manage the massive vehicular movement, Traffic Police Srinagar issued a comprehensive routing plan valid for the Milad eve and the subsequent Friday congregation:
- North Kashmir: Vehicles arriving via Shalteng must travel via Parimpora → Qamarwari Cement Bridge → Noorbagh → Sekidafar → Eidgah → Alimasjid → Sazgaripora → Hawal → Alamgari Bazar → Mill Stop → Molvi Stop → Botshah Mohallah → Kanitar → University Saderbal entrance.
- South Kashmir: Vehicles from Panthachowk will move via Batwara → Sonwar Bazar → Ram Munshi Bagh → Gupkar → Grand Palace → Nishat → Foreshore Road → Habbak Crossing → Naseembagh entrance.
- Budgam & Central Districts: Traffic will route via Hyderpora → Tengpora → Bemina Bypass → Qamarwari → Noorbagh → Eidgah →
