Ahead of Autumn Session, Speaker Rather Constitutes Business Advisory Committee; Sharma, Sagar, Sajad Named to Panel
Formed under Rule 317 of Assembly procedure, the cross-party committee will steer legislative business and allot time allocations for the upcoming 10-day session commencing September 21.
SRINAGAR: Gearing up for the upcoming autumn session of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has officially constituted the high-powered Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
According to an official notification, the cross-party committee has been formed in exercise of the powers conferred under Rule 317 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir, drawing representation from key political formations across the House.

The Business Advisory Committee plays a vital legislative role, being entrusted with recommending the allocation of time for discussions on Government Bills, financial proposals, and other crucial legislative business referred to it by the Speaker.
Under the established rules of the House, the panel is also empowered to draw up a comprehensive timetable setting out the allocated hours within which each stage of specified legislative business must be completed, in addition to undertaking any other parliamentary functions entrusted to it by the Speaker.
Meanwhile, assembly sources indicated that the Hon’ble Speaker is likely to convene an all-party meeting next week to establish consensus, ensure cordial floor coordination, and facilitate the smooth and productive conduct of the 10-day-long autumn session, which is scheduled to commence on September 21.
Floor leaders and representatives from all legislative parties will be invited to participate in the preparatory deliberations to finalize proceedings ahead of the sitting.
