The Election Commission of India has officially launched Phase II of its Special Intensive Revision, a significant move to update and verify the electoral rolls across the nation. This phase aims to cover 12 states and 6 Union Territories involving approximately 51 crore registered voters as part of comprehensive preparations for several upcoming crucial elections.
This special revision process seeks to enhance the accuracy and integrity of the voter lists by including new eligible voters, correcting any discrepancies, removing duplicates or ineligible entries, and updating existing voter information. The move comes ahead of major state assembly elections and other electoral events scheduled nationwide in the coming months.
According to the Election Commission, rigorous efforts are being made to encourage voter participation and ensure every eligible citizen is accounted for. Special camps, door-to-door verification teams, and digital voter enrollment platforms are being utilized extensively, making it easier for citizens to register, update details, or raise queries.
Officials have emphasized the importance of voter vigilance as well, requesting citizens to verify their names and details in the electoral rolls available online or at designated centers, to report inaccuracies, and to ensure their voting rights are protected.
The Election Commission’s active outreach through educational campaigns and collaboration with local authorities aims to promote fair, transparent, and inclusive elections across the country.
This phase of Special Intensive Revision is a key step in strengthening the democratic process by preparing accurate and updated electoral rolls to facilitate smooth election conduct and empower voters to exercise their franchise confidently.
