Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a milestone in India-Bhutan relations by inaugurating the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project on November 11, 2025. The project, situated on Bhutan’s Punatsangchhu River, represents a significant step towards regional clean energy development and bilateral cooperation.
The hydropower project will enhance Bhutan’s power generation capacity and strengthen power exports to India under existing energy agreements. PM Modi described the project as a “symbol of mutual trust and sustainable growth,” reinforcing the strong friendship and partnership between the two nations.
The visit coincided with Bhutan’s celebration of the 70th birthday of its fourth king and the Global Peace Prayer Festival, where PM Modi also announced an additional concessional line of credit of ₹4,000 crore to support Bhutan’s future hydropower and infrastructure projects.
PM Modi Assures Justice for Delhi Blast Victims
Addressing the nation regarding the tragic blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, PM Modi expressed condolences and assured that the government is committed to bringing all responsible parties to justice. He stated, “All conspirators behind this horrific incident will not be spared,” emphasizing the government’s resolve to maintain national security.
Following the blast, which resulted in twelve fatalities and several injuries, PM Modi personally visited survivors at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, providing support and solidarity to the victims and their families.
This dual-focus visit highlights India’s dedication to robust international partnerships and unwavering attention to national security challenges.
