On September 11, 2025, AIIMS New Delhi unveiled “Never Alone,” an innovative and first-of-its-kind AI-powered mental wellness platform specially designed to support students’ psychological health. The platform is accessible 24/7 and provides students with instant and confidential access to mental health experts through WhatsApp and other digital channels. This ready access to mental health professionals enables immediate emotional and psychological assistance, helping students navigate stress, anxiety, and crises promptly.

The launch of “Never Alone” comes at a critical time when student suicides and mental health concerns have reached alarming levels in India, drawing national focus and urgent calls for intervention. Suicide remains a significant public health challenge, with data revealing that young adults, particularly those between 18 and 30 years of age, account for a substantial portion of suicides in India. The AIIMS initiative aims to reduce the stigma widely associated with mental illness in educational institutions, encouraging students to seek help without fear of judgment or discrimination.

By harnessing artificial intelligence technology, “Never Alone” offers a personalized, confidential, and effective approach to mental health care, breaking barriers such as limited availability of counselors and social taboos. The platform is designed to screen, intervene, and provide continuous post-intervention support, thereby revolutionizing the landscape of student welfare and mental health outreach. With this pioneering effort, AIIMS New Delhi sets a new standard in holistic healthcare innovation, striving to ensure no student feels isolated or helpless during difficult times. The initiative is expected to foster a supportive environment where students feel empowered to prioritize their mental well-being and thrive academically and personally.
