Cyclone Montha, currently strengthening in the Bay of Bengal, is forecast to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning, with landfall expected along the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada. The India Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for coastal Andhra and Odisha as emergency preparations ramp up. In response to the threat, the East Coast Railway has cancelled 43 trains originating from or passing through Visakhapatnam, Kirandul, Kakinada Port, Rajahmundry, and other stations for October 27–29, prioritizing passenger safety. Services affected include the Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Express, Visakhapatnam–Kakinada Port Express, and several other passenger routes critical for daily commuters.
