Massive Bronze Statue to Become New Spiritual Landmark

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in South Goa, described by organisers as one of Asia’s tallest statues of the deity.

The statue, crafted by renowned sculptor Ram V Sutar, stands on the banks of the Kushavati river and is expected to emerge as a new pilgrimage and tourist attraction for devotees visiting the coastal state.

Part of 550th Year Celebrations of the Math

The unveiling ceremony is the highlight of the ‘Sardha Panchashatamanotsava’, a special programme marking 550 years of the historic Partagali Math, one of the most prominent centres of the Saraswat community.

As part of the celebrations, the Prime Minister will offer prayers at the Math, address devotees and seers, and participate in a series of religious and cultural events spread over several days.

Ramayana Theme Park, Stamp and Coin to Be Unveiled

Along with the statue, the Prime Minister is also inaugurating a Ramayana Theme Park on the Math premises, designed to depict episodes from the epic through sculptures, exhibits and landscaped installations.

A special postal stamp and commemorative coin dedicated to the Math’s 550-year legacy will be released during the function, underlining the institution’s contribution to spiritual and cultural life in the Konkan region.

Security, Crowd Management and Devotee Footfall

Goa Police and central security agencies have deployed additional personnel in and around Partagali, set up traffic diversions and created dedicated parking zones to manage the expected rush of devotees and visitors.

Organisers estimate that more than 15,000 people could gather at the Math on the main day, with overall footfall across the multi-day celebration projected at over one lakh pilgrims and tourists.

Symbolism and Tourism Potential

The towering image of Lord Ram is being projected as a symbol of dharma, courage and just leadership, reflecting the government’s emphasis on cultural heritage and civilisational themes in recent public projects.

Local authorities and tourism stakeholders expect the new statue, along with the Ramayana Theme Park, to draw year-round visitors and add a major religious tourism circuit to South Goa’s largely beach-focused travel map.
